Poas Volcano & Starbucks Coffee Farm Tour
Alajuela, Costa Rica
Opened to the public on January 25th, 1971, the volcano is 2,708 meters above sea level. Come and feel the experience of visiting the amazing Poas Volcano. In 2017 visiting the volcano was closed for almost 1 year and 4 months because of different eruptions. Now it has different characteristics because one of its craters is 60 meters larger than it was before. Now the Poas Volcano has the 2nd largest volcanic crater in the world! You will visit the crater for 20 minutes. It is only possible to visit for this amount of time because of the sulfur gases that the volcano produces. During this time you have the possibility to see the crater very closely. The volcano has 3 different craters, one of them is the 2nd largest in the world. Before the park was closed because of eruptions, but now it is one of the most visited areas in Costa Rica. You can stay in the park for one hour and you will see a lot of wildlife and nature.
In this tour you will also visit a Starbucks Coffee Farm close to the Poas Volcano. Here you will learn about the process of planting, growing, and harvesting one of Costa Rica’s most important products. This is a very professional coffee farm with amazing views of the green and vibrant countryside of Costa Rica. Learn how we bring our coffee from our hands to your cup in this educational and interesting coffee farm tour.
